t's nice to see you again! I see you have an upcoming cystoscopy? Your upcoming procedure is just a routine check to make sure you're developing properly. Ahead of that though, I want to be sure you're ready, so we're going to go ahead with a procedure today that will help to ensure that. If you're okay with it, I'd like to have a colleague sit in. Would that be alright? Great. Thank you! I'll step out now and let you get situated on the table. I've got my gown on, and Dr. Lee has joined us, she's let me know that if the event you need a hand to hold she'll gladly do so. I'll be talking you both through it, so don't worry if I use some words you aren't familiar with - they may be for her benefit. Ok, all I need now are some gloves and we'll be able to get started. Now that I'm ready to begin I explain to Dr. Lee that we can conduct these small procedures in an exam room provided we're careful to maintain a sterile field. In this case my gloves are sterile and all of my instruments have been sanitized. I moved forward first cleaning your penis with a sterile solution and then I begin your procedure. I lubricate the first dilator, hold it at the entrance of your urethra (penis is implied, not shown) and allow it so slowly sink down into you. Then I gently work it up and down. It moves without any difficulty and I decide we can move up to the next size. We repeat the process with the other side of the sound, which conveniently is the next size up and spend some time briefly allowing for it to stay in place as we work to slowly widen you. By the time we step up to the third size you really begin to feel a stretch but I am careful to not use any drive to move it downwards. Again I work it up and down slowly, pausing to allow for it to stay in place. You begin to get a little bit restless at this point and I encourage you to remain still. You explain that it is starting to feel a bit funny and I pause to ask if it hurts - it doesn't, so I hold here and assure you that we're nearly done. Dr. Lee and I commend you for being so great throughout your procedure. You've done so well! You didn't even need to ask to hold her hand! Good job. Now we're done and I'm going to retract the dilator slowly, "Oh" I say gently as I remove it, and implore you not to apologize. It's not uncommon to achieve an erection and to ejaculate as a result of the stimulation. We're done! I am confident now that we'll have no trouble with the scope during your cystoscopy
